Prerequisites

Before creating a Typeform credential, you need to obtain your Personal Access Token from your Typeform account. Typeform uses Bearer token authentication for all API requests.

To obtain your Typeform Personal Access Token, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Typeform account using your administrator credentials.

  2. Navigate to your account settings by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner of the Typeform dashboard, then select My Account or Account Settings.

  3. In your account settings, navigate to the Personal Tokens section or API Tokens tab.

  4. If you don't have a personal access token yet, click Create Token or Generate Token to create a new personal access token.

  5. Configure your token settings:

    • Enter a name for the token (e.g., "Nexla Integration")
    • Review the token permissions or scopes (if applicable)
    • Click Create or Generate to create the token
  6. After the token is created, copy the Personal Access Token value immediately, as it may not be accessible again after you navigate away from the page.

  7. Store the token securely, as you will need it to configure your Nexla credential. The Personal Access Token is sensitive information and should be kept confidential.

The Personal Access Token is sent as a Bearer token in the Authorization header for all API requests to the Typeform API. The token authenticates your requests and grants access to Typeform resources based on your account permissions. If your token is compromised, you should immediately revoke it in your Typeform account settings and generate a new one. For detailed information about obtaining personal access tokens, API authentication, and available endpoints, refer to the Typeform API documentation.

Your Typeform Personal Access Token can be found in your Typeform account under My Account > Personal Tokens. To use the Typeform APIs, you need to pass your personal access token. Login to your Typeform account and create a token in My Account >> Personal Tokens.

If your token is compromised, you should immediately revoke it in your Typeform account settings and generate a new one. The Personal Access Token provides access to your Typeform account data and should be treated as sensitive information. Keep your token secure and do not share it publicly.

For detailed information about obtaining personal access tokens, API authentication, and available endpoints, see the Typeform API documentation and Typeform API overview.

  3. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during data source/destination creation.

Use as a data source

To create a new data flow, navigate to the Integrate section, and click the New Data Flow button. Select the Typeform connector tile, then select the credential that will be used to connect to the Typeform instance, and click Next; or, create a new Typeform credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure data sources to ingest data from common Typeform endpoints. Select the endpoint from which this source will fetch data from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Available endpoint templates are listed in the expandable boxes below.

Fetch Form Responses(Max. 1000)

This endpoint template retrieves form responses and date and time of form landing and submission from your Typeform account. This fetches max. 1000 responses. Use this template when you need to access form responses, submission data, or response metadata for analysis, reporting, or integration purposes.

  • Enter the Form ID in the Form Id field. This should be the unique identifier of the form whose responses you wish to fetch. The Form ID determines which form's responses will be retrieved. You can find the Form ID in your Typeform dashboard or from the form's URL.

This endpoint returns form responses and date and time of form landing and submission from your Typeform account, including response data, submission timestamps, and response metadata. This endpoint fetches a maximum of 1000 responses. Use the other endpoints to limit responses with query filters if you need more control over the response set.

For detailed information about form responses, API response structures, and available response data, see the Typeform API documentation.

Fetch Form Responses(Max. 1000) with Filter Criteria

This endpoint template retrieves form responses and date and time of form landing and submission from your Typeform account. This fetches max. 1000 responses based on selected filter criteria. Use this template when you need to access filtered form responses, submission data, or response metadata for analysis, reporting, or integration purposes.

  • Enter the Form ID in the Form Id field. This should be the unique identifier of the form whose responses you wish to fetch. The Form ID determines which form's responses will be retrieved. You can find the Form ID in your Typeform dashboard or from the form's URL.
  • Enter the Filter Criteria in the Filter Criteria field. This should be the filter type for limiting the result set (e.g., since, until). The Filter Criteria determines which responses will be retrieved. You can select from the available options: Since (limit request to responses submitted since the specified date and time) or Until (limit request to responses submitted until the specified date and time). Must be accompanied with a filter value.
  • Enter the Date (ISO 8601 format) for Filter Criteria in the Date (ISO 8601 format) for Filter Criteria field. This should be the date to fetch responses for. Must be in ISO 8601 format. You can also use Nexla macros like `{now}`, `{now - 1}` etc. The Date determines the filter value for the selected filter criteria.

This endpoint returns form responses and date and time of form landing and submission from your Typeform account, filtered by the specified criteria, including response data, submission timestamps, and response metadata. This endpoint fetches a maximum of 1000 responses based on the selected filter criteria.

For detailed information about form responses, API response structures, filter options, and available response data, see the Typeform API documentation.

Fetch Responses for Forms in Lookup

This endpoint template retrieves form responses for forms in Nexla Lookup from your Typeform account. This fetches max. 1000 responses per form. Use this template when you need to batch fetch responses for multiple forms from a lookup table for analysis, reporting, or integration purposes.

  • Select the Lookup for fetching Form ID from the Lookup for fetching Form ID pulldown menu. This should be the Nexla Lookup that contains Form IDs to iterate over. The Lookup determines which form IDs will be used to fetch responses.
  • Enter the Form ID column name in Lookup in the Form ID column name in Lookup field. This should be the column name in the lookup table that contains the Typeform form IDs. The Form ID column name determines which column will be used to extract form IDs from the lookup table.

Manual configuration

Typeform data sources can also be manually configured to ingest data from any valid Typeform API endpoint not covered by the pre-built templates, including sources that use chained API calls or custom request parameters. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, endpoint URL, date/time and lookup macros, path to data, metadata, and request headers.

The Typeform API uses the GET method for retrieving data, which is the most common method for Typeform data sources.

Once all of the relevant settings have been configured, click the Create button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the new Typeform data source. Nexla will now begin ingesting data from the configured endpoint and will organize any data that it finds into one or more Nexsets.
