Survicate

Survicate is a customer feedback and survey platform for collecting insights across websites, mobile apps, email, and links. Its Data Export API exposes surveys, questions, responses, and respondent data so teams can analyze feedback outside the Survicate panel. This connector uses that API to ingest survey and response data into Nexla and to submit GDPR personal-data erasure requests.

Prerequisites

Before creating a Survicate credential, you need a Survicate API key for the Data Export API. Survicate authenticates Data Export API requests using an API key sent in the Authorization request header. All requests are made against the Data Export API base URL https://data-api.survicate.com/v2.

To obtain your Survicate API key, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Survicate account.

  2. Open the Surveys Settings tab in the Survicate panel.

  3. Locate the Access Keys section, where your workspace API key is listed.

  4. Copy the API key and store it securely, as you will need it to configure your Nexla credential.

An API key grants access to the survey, response, and respondent data in your Survicate workspace. Treat it as sensitive information and rotate it if it is ever exposed. For detailed information about authentication and available endpoints, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

Create a credential in Nexla

  1. After selecting the data source/destination type, click the Add Credential tile to open the Add New Credential overlay.

  2. Enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field and a short, meaningful description in the Credential Description field.

  3. Enter your Survicate API key in the API Key field. This key is sent in the Authorization header to authenticate all requests to the Survicate Data Export API, and must be kept confidential.

If your API key is compromised, rotate it in the Access Keys section of your Survicate Surveys Settings. The API key provides access to your Survicate survey and respondent data and should be treated as sensitive information.

For detailed information about authentication and available endpoints, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

  4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during data source/destination creation.

Use as a data source

To create a new data flow, navigate to the Integrate section, and click the New Data Flow button. Select the Survicate connector tile, then select the credential that will be used to connect to Survicate, and click Next; or, create a new Survicate credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure data sources to ingest data from common Survicate endpoints. Select the endpoint from which this source will fetch data from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Available endpoint templates are listed in the expandable boxes below.

[Rest API] List Surveys

Retrieve all surveys from the workspace.

  • This endpoint returns the list of surveys available in your Survicate workspace. Results are paginated, and Nexla automatically fetches subsequent pages of data.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Survey

Retrieve detailed information for a specific survey including questions and answer options.

  • Provide the Survey ID of the survey to retrieve. This endpoint returns detailed information for that single survey.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] List Survey Questions

List all questions and possible answers for a specific survey.

  • Provide the Survey ID whose questions should be listed. Results are paginated, and Nexla automatically fetches subsequent pages of data.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] List Responses

Retrieve all collected survey responses with filtering and pagination support.

  • This endpoint returns all collected survey responses in your workspace. Results are paginated, and Nexla automatically fetches subsequent pages of data.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Response

Retrieve detailed information for a specific survey response including all answers.

  • Provide the Response ID of the response to retrieve. This endpoint returns detailed information for that single response, including all answers.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] List Respondent Attributes

Retrieve attributes for respondents including custom properties and demographics.

  • This endpoint returns respondent attributes, including custom properties and demographics. Results are paginated, and Nexla automatically fetches subsequent pages of data.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] List Respondent Responses

Retrieve all responses from a specific respondent.

  • Provide the Respondent ID (uuid) whose responses should be listed. Results are paginated, and Nexla automatically fetches subsequent pages of data.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Personal Data Counters

Retrieve the count of personal data records held for a respondent by email address, for GDPR compliance and data access requests.

  • This endpoint returns the count of personal data records held for a respondent, identified by email address. Use it to support GDPR compliance and data access requests.

For detailed information about this endpoint and its response structure, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

Once the selected endpoint template has been configured, click the Test button to the right of the endpoint selection menu to retrieve a sample of the data that will be fetched. Sample data will be displayed in the Endpoint Test Result panel on the right, allowing you to verify that the source is configured correctly before saving.

Manual configuration

Survicate data sources can also be manually configured to ingest data from any valid Survicate Data Export API endpoint, including endpoints not covered by the pre-built templates, chained API calls, or custom request parameters. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, endpoint URL, date/time and lookup macros, path to data, metadata, and request headers.

Once all of the relevant settings have been configured, click the Create button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the new Survicate data source. Nexla will now begin ingesting data from the configured endpoint and will organize any data that it finds into one or more Nexsets.

Use as a destination

Click the + icon on the Nexset that will be sent to the Survicate destination, and select the Send to Destination option from the menu. Select the Survicate connector from the list of available destination connectors, then select the credential that will be used to connect to Survicate, and click Next; or, create a new Survicate credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure destinations to send data to common Survicate endpoints. Select the endpoint to which data will be sent from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Then, click on the template in the list below to expand it, and follow the instructions to configure additional endpoint settings.

[Rest API] Delete Personal Data

Delete personal data by email address (GDPR erasure). Removes all personal data associated with the specified respondent email.

  • This endpoint issues a DELETE request that removes all personal data associated with the respondent email address supplied in each record from your Nexset. Use it to fulfill GDPR erasure requests.

This is a destructive operation: personal data removed through this endpoint cannot be recovered. Ensure the email address in each record is correct before activating the destination. For detailed information about this endpoint and its request format, see the Survicate Data Export API documentation.

Manual configuration

Survicate destinations can also be manually configured to send data to any valid Survicate Data Export API endpoint. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, data format, endpoint URL, request headers, attribute exclusions, record batching, and response webhooks.

Save & activate

Once all endpoint settings have been configured, click the Done button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the destination. To send the data to the configured Survicate endpoint, open the destination resource menu, and select Activate.

The Nexset data will not be sent to the Survicate endpoint until the destination is activated. Destinations can be activated immediately or at a later time, providing full control over data movement.
