Tremendous

Tremendous is a payouts platform for sending rewards, incentives, and reimbursements to recipients worldwide through gift cards, prepaid cards, bank transfers, and other payout methods. Its REST API lets you create and manage orders, rewards, campaigns, funding sources, invoices, and organization members programmatically. This connector uses the Tremendous API to move payout and reward data into and out of Nexla.

Prerequisites

Before creating a Tremendous credential, you need an API key from your Tremendous account. Tremendous authenticates every API request with a bearer token sent in the Authorization header.

Tremendous provides two separate environments — Sandbox and Production — each with its own base URL and its own API keys. Sandbox keys are prefixed with TEST_ and Production keys with PROD_; data is not shared between the two. This connector targets the Production API at api.tremendous.com.

To obtain your API key, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Tremendous dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Team Settings > Developers.

  3. Click Add API key to generate a new key.

  4. Copy the generated key and store it somewhere safe, as it grants access to your account and may not be shown again.

Production API access requires Tremendous to approve your account first. If your account is not yet approved, open Team Settings > Developers, click Request production API access, and complete the form, which asks for company documentation such as articles of incorporation, a W-9, or a bank verification letter. Until then, you can build and test against the Sandbox environment, which comes pre-funded with a test balance. For more detail, see the Tremendous API documentation.

Authenticate

Credentials required

FieldRequiredSecretDescription
API Key ValueYesYesAn encoded string value used as a secret token to authenticate API requests. This is the API key generated under Team Settings > Developers in your Tremendous dashboard. It is sent as a bearer token in the Authorization header.

Create a credential in Nexla

  1. After selecting the data source/destination type, click the Add Credential tile to open the Add New Credential overlay.

  2. Enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field and a short, meaningful description in the Credential Description field.

  3. Enter your Tremendous API key in the API Key Value field. This is the key you generated in Prerequisites, and it is sent as a bearer token in the Authorization header for all API requests.

Your API key grants access to your Tremendous account and should be treated as sensitive information. If a key is compromised, revoke it under Team Settings > Developers in your Tremendous dashboard and generate a new one.

For more information about authentication and available endpoints, see the Tremendous API documentation.

  4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during data source/destination creation.

Use as a data source

To create a new data flow, navigate to the Integrate section, and click the New Data Flow button. Select the Tremendous connector tile, then select the credential that will be used to connect to Tremendous, and click Next; or, create a new Tremendous credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Once the selected endpoint template has been configured, click the Test button to the right of the endpoint selection menu to retrieve a sample of the data that will be fetched. Sample data will be displayed in the Endpoint Test Result panel on the right, allowing you to verify that the source is configured correctly before saving.

Manual configuration

Tremendous data sources can also be manually configured to ingest data from any valid Tremendous API endpoint, including endpoints not covered by the pre-built templates, chained API calls, or custom request parameters. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, endpoint URL, date/time and lookup macros, path to data, metadata, and request headers.

Once all of the relevant settings have been configured, click the Create button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the new Tremendous data source. Nexla will now begin ingesting data from the configured endpoint and will organize any data that it finds into one or more Nexsets.

Use as a destination

Click the + icon on the Nexset that will be sent to the Tremendous destination, and select the Send to Destination option from the menu. Select the Tremendous connector from the list of available destination connectors, then select the credential that will be used to connect to Tremendous, and click Next; or, create a new Tremendous credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure destinations to send data to common Tremendous endpoints. Select the endpoint to which data will be sent from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Then, click on the template in the list below to expand it, and follow the instructions to configure additional endpoint settings.

[Rest API] Create an order (initiate reward delivery)

Creates a new order, initiating delivery of one or more rewards to recipients. Each record from your Nexset is sent as a JSON request body describing the order and its rewards.

[Rest API] Approve a pending order

Approves a pending order so its rewards can be delivered. The order ID is taken from the record.

[Rest API] Reject a pending order

Rejects a pending order so its rewards are not delivered. The order ID is taken from the record.

Creates or updates your organization's webhook endpoint. Each record is sent as a JSON request body specifying the webhook URL.

[Rest API] Delete a webhook

Deletes a webhook by its ID. The webhook ID is taken from the record.

[Rest API] Trigger a test webhook event

Triggers a test event to a webhook so you can verify your endpoint receives events correctly. The webhook ID is taken from the record.

[Rest API] Create an invoice to fund account balance

Creates an invoice used to add funds to your account balance. Each record is sent as a JSON request body describing the invoice.

[Rest API] Add a member to the organization

Adds a new member to your organization. Each record is sent as a JSON request body describing the member.

Manual configuration

Tremendous destinations can also be manually configured to send data to any valid Tremendous API endpoint. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, data format, endpoint URL, request headers, attribute exclusions, record batching, and response webhooks.

Tremendous APIs expect JSON in the request body for create and update operations. For operations that act on a specific resource, include the resource ID in the endpoint URL.

Save & activate

Once all endpoint settings have been configured, click the Done button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the destination. To send the data to the configured Tremendous endpoint, open the destination resource menu, and select Activate.

The Nexset data will not be sent to the Tremendous endpoint until the destination is activated. Destinations can be activated immediately or at a later time, providing full control over data movement.
