Bloomreach Dataconnect

Bloomreach Data Connect is the data ingestion pipeline for Bloomreach Discovery, Bloomreach's AI-driven e-commerce search and merchandising product. It accepts product catalog feed data delivered through the Data Connect API or via SFTP, and uploaded catalogs are then indexed to power Bloomreach Discovery search and merchandising experiences. Nexla's Bloomreach Dataconnect connector is a script-based destination that packages Nexset records into a catalog feed and uploads it to Bloomreach Data Connect as either a full or a patch feed.

Prerequisites

Bloomreach Data Connect accepts catalog feed data through its API and via SFTP file delivery, and both delivery mechanisms are provisioned by Bloomreach for your account. Before configuring a Bloomreach Dataconnect destination in Nexla, gather the following connection details from your Bloomreach account team or your Bloomreach Discovery account setup:

  • Account ID and catalog name – Your Bloomreach account identifier and the name of the catalog that will receive the feed data. Both values are assigned by Bloomreach when your Discovery account and catalog are provisioned, and both are used to address Data Connect API requests for your catalog.

  • API authorization key – The Bloomreach API key for your account. Data Connect API requests are authenticated by sending this key as a bearer token in the request's Authorization header.

  • SFTP credentials – For SFTP-based feed delivery, Bloomreach sets up a delivery location for your account and registers the public SSH key that you share with Bloomreach. Keep the corresponding private key (and its passphrase, if one is set) available for credential configuration in Nexla.

For complete information about Bloomreach Data Connect feed delivery, catalog configuration, and indexing, see the Bloomreach Discovery documentation.

Authenticate

The Bloomreach Dataconnect connector authenticates using a Bloomreach SFTP and API credential, which stores the Bloomreach connection details listed in Prerequisites.

Create a credential in Nexla

  1. After selecting the destination type, click the Add Credential tile to open the Add New Credential overlay.

  2. Enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field and a short, meaningful description in the Credential Description field.

  3. Enter the Bloomreach account, catalog, API, and SFTP details that you gathered in Prerequisites in the displayed fields.

  4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during destination creation and can be selected for use with a new destination.

Use as a destination

Click the + icon on the Nexset that will be sent to Bloomreach, and select the Send to Destination option from the menu. Select the Bloomreach Dataconnect connector from the list of available destination connectors, then select the credential that will be used to connect to Bloomreach Data Connect, and click Next; or, create a new Bloomreach credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides a pre-built template that configures this destination to upload Nexset data to Bloomreach Data Connect. Select the endpoint from the Endpoint pulldown menu, then click on the template in the list below to expand it, and follow the instructions to configure the endpoint settings.

Upload data

This endpoint template uploads data to the Bloomreach Dataconnect API. Use this template to deliver Nexset records to a Bloomreach Discovery catalog as a scheduled feed upload.

  • Bloomreach SFTP and API Credential: Select the Bloomreach SFTP and API credential that Nexla will use to deliver the feed and call the Data Connect API.
  • Feed Type: Choose between the Full and Patch feed types. A full feed replaces the catalog data with the complete contents of the upload, while a patch feed applies incremental updates to the existing catalog. The default is Full.
  • Minimum threshold: Enter the minimum number of records required in the output. The default is 1.

This is a script-based destination: on each scheduled run, Nexla executes a managed upload script that packages the Nexset records into a feed and delivers it to Bloomreach Data Connect using the selected credential. For information about feed formats and catalog indexing, see the Bloomreach Discovery documentation.

Save & activate

Once all endpoint settings have been configured, click the Done button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the destination. To send the data to Bloomreach Data Connect, open the destination resource menu, and select Activate.

The Nexset data will not be uploaded to Bloomreach Data Connect until the destination is activated. Destinations can be activated immediately or at a later time, providing full control over data movement.
