Prerequisites

Before creating an Anvyl credential in Nexla, you need to obtain your API key from your Anvyl account. This credential authenticates Nexla with the Anvyl API and should be kept secure.

To obtain an Anvyl API key, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Anvyl account.

  2. Navigate to your account settings or developer settings to access API configuration options.

  3. Locate the API section in your account settings. This section contains your API credentials and access tokens.

  4. Generate or copy your API Key. The API key is a secret token that authenticates API requests and provides access to your Anvyl account data. The API key is sent in the Authorization header for all API requests.

Your API key provides full access to your Anvyl account data through the API. Keep your API key secure and do not share it publicly or commit it to version control systems. If you suspect your API key has been compromised, regenerate it immediately in your Anvyl account settings. For detailed instructions on generating an API key, see the Anvyl API documentation.

Create a credential in Nexla

  1. After selecting the data source/destination type, click the Add Credential tile to open the Add New Credential overlay.

New Credential Overlay – Anvyl

  1. Enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field and a short, meaningful description in the Credential Description field.

  2. Enter your Anvyl API key in the API Key Value field. This key authenticates Nexla with the Anvyl API and should match the API key obtained from your Anvyl account settings. The API key is sent in the Authorization header for all API requests.

The API key provides full access to your Anvyl account data through the API. Keep your API key secure and do not share it publicly or commit it to version control systems. Anvyl uses the API key in the Authorization header for authentication, which allows Nexla to make authenticated requests to your account.

  3. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during data source/destination creation.

Use as a data source

To create a new data flow, navigate to the Integrate section, and click the New Data Flow button. Select the Anvyl connector tile, then select the credential that will be used to connect to the Anvyl instance, and click Next; or, create a new Anvyl credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure data sources to ingest data from common Anvyl endpoints. Select the endpoint from which this source will fetch data from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Available endpoint templates are listed in the expandable boxes below.

List all records

This endpoint retrieves a list of all records of a selected Anvyl object type. Use this endpoint when you need to access order collections, purchase orders, parts, or other object types from your Anvyl account.

  • Enter your Team ID in the Team ID field. Team IDs uniquely identify teams within your Anvyl account.
  • Select the Anvyl object type you want to retrieve from the Anvyl Object Name dropdown menu. Available options include Order Collections, Purchase Orders, Parts, and other object types.
  • The endpoint uses page-based pagination, automatically fetching additional pages as needed. By default, the endpoint retrieves up to 100 records per page, starting from page 1.
  • The endpoint will return all records of the selected object type, organized into pages for efficient data retrieval.

This endpoint supports pagination through page and per_page parameters. Nexla automatically handles pagination to retrieve all available records. For detailed information about available object types and retrieving records, see the Anvyl API documentation.

List all records of the selected object associated with an order

This endpoint retrieves a list of selected objects associated with a specific purchase order. Use this endpoint when you need to access milestones, line items, or other objects related to a particular order.

  • Enter your Team ID in the Team ID field. Team IDs uniquely identify teams within your Anvyl account.
  • Enter the Order ID of the purchase order in the Order ID field. Order IDs can be obtained by first using the "List all records" endpoint to retrieve purchase orders.
  • Select the object name you want to retrieve from the Object Name dropdown menu. Available options include milestones, line items, and other objects associated with purchase orders.
  • The endpoint uses page-based pagination, automatically fetching additional pages as needed. By default, the endpoint retrieves up to 100 records per page, starting from page 1.

This endpoint supports pagination through page and per_page parameters. Nexla automatically handles pagination to retrieve all available records. For detailed information about retrieving order-related objects, see the Anvyl API documentation.

Get Order Details

This endpoint retrieves detailed information about a specific purchase order by its unique identifier. Use this endpoint when you need to access complete order details for a single purchase order.

  • Enter your Team ID in the Team ID field. Team IDs uniquely identify teams within your Anvyl account.
  • Enter the unique identifier (ID) of the purchase order you want to retrieve in the Order ID field. Order IDs can be obtained by first using the "List all records" endpoint to retrieve purchase orders and their corresponding IDs.
  • The endpoint will return the complete details for the specified purchase order, including all associated fields and metadata.

Order IDs can be obtained by first using the "List all records" endpoint to retrieve available purchase orders and their corresponding IDs. For detailed information about retrieving specific orders, see the Anvyl API documentation.

Get Part Details

This endpoint retrieves detailed information about a specific part by its unique identifier. Use this endpoint when you need to access complete part details for a single part.

  • Enter your Team ID in the Team ID field. Team IDs uniquely identify teams within your Anvyl account.
  • Enter the unique identifier (ID) of the part you want to retrieve in the Part ID field. Part IDs can be obtained by first using the "List all records" endpoint to retrieve parts and their corresponding IDs.
  • The endpoint will return the complete details for the specified part, including all associated fields and metadata.

Part IDs can be obtained by first using the "List all records" endpoint to retrieve available parts and their corresponding IDs. For detailed information about retrieving specific parts, see the Anvyl API documentation.

Once the selected endpoint template has been configured, click the Test button to the right of the endpoint selection menu to retrieve a sample of the data that will be fetched. Sample data will be displayed in the Endpoint Test Result panel on the right, allowing you to verify that the source is configured correctly before saving.

Manual configuration

Anvyl data sources can also be manually configured to ingest data from any valid Anvyl API endpoint, including endpoints not covered by the pre-built templates, chained API calls, or custom request parameters. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, endpoint URL, date/time and lookup macros, path to data, metadata, and request headers.

Anvyl API endpoints typically follow the pattern https://api.anvyl.com/api/v1/teams/{team_id}/{object_type} for listing objects or https://api.anvyl.com/api/v1/teams/{team_id}/{object_type}/{object_id} for retrieving specific objects. For a complete list of available Anvyl API endpoints, see the Anvyl API documentation.

Once all of the relevant settings have been configured, click the Create button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the new Anvyl data source. Nexla will now begin ingesting data from the configured endpoint and will organize any data that it finds into one or more Nexsets.
