  • Seamless API Integration: Connect to any endpoint as source or destination without coding, with automatic data product creation
  • Visual Composition & Chaining: Build complex integrations using visual templates, chain API calls, and compose workflows with data validation and filtering
  • API Proxy: Expose curated slices of your data securely with a secure and customizable API proxy that validates and transforms data on the fly
  • Request optimization with intelligent batching, retry, and caching to minimize API calls and costs

Prerequisites

Before creating an ArtsVision credential in Nexla, you need to obtain your client-specific API key from your ArtsVision account. This credential authenticates Nexla with the ArtsVision API and should be kept secure.

To obtain your ArtsVision API key, follow these steps:

  1. Contact your ArtsVision account representative or access your ArtsVision account settings to request API access.

  2. Navigate to your account settings or developer settings to access API configuration options.

  3. Locate the API section in your account settings. This section contains your client-specific API credentials and access tokens.

  4. Generate or copy your API Key. The API key is a client-specific secret token that authenticates API requests and provides access to your ArtsVision account data. The API key is sent in the apikey header for all API requests.

Your API key provides full access to your ArtsVision account data through the API. Keep your API key secure and do not share it publicly or commit it to version control systems. If you suspect your API key has been compromised, contact your ArtsVision account representative to regenerate it. For additional information about ArtsVision API access, see the ArtsVision website.

Create a credential in Nexla

  1. After selecting the data source/destination type, click the Add Credential tile to open the Add New Credential overlay.

  1. Enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field and a short, meaningful description in the Credential Description field.

  2. Enter your ArtsVision API key in the Api Key field. This key authenticates Nexla with the ArtsVision API and should match the client-specific API key obtained from your ArtsVision account. The API key is sent in the apikey header for all API requests.

The API key provides full access to your ArtsVision account data through the API. Keep your API key secure and do not share it publicly or commit it to version control systems. ArtsVision uses the API key in the apikey header for authentication, which allows Nexla to make authenticated requests to your account.

  3. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during data source/destination creation.

Use as a data source

To create a new data flow, navigate to the Integrate section, and click the New Data Flow button. Select the ArtsVision connector tile, then select the credential that will be used to connect to the ArtsVision instance, and click Next; or, create a new ArtsVision credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure data sources to ingest data from common ArtsVision endpoints. Select the endpoint from which this source will fetch data from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Available endpoint templates are listed in the expandable boxes below.

Get Data

This endpoint queries and retrieves entity data based on comprehensive request parameters. Use this endpoint when you need to access ArtsVision entity data for analysis, reporting, or integration with other systems.

  • Enter the request parameter list in the Request Parameter List field. This should be in the format p1=v1&p2=v2 (name-value pair parameters). The parameters specify which entities and fields to retrieve from ArtsVision.
  • Enter the start date for the data retrieval period in the Start Date field. This should be in the format MM/DD/YYYY. The default value is {now-1}, which represents yesterday's date.
  • Enter the end date for the data retrieval period in the End Date field. This should be in the format MM/DD/YYYY. The default value is {now}, which represents today's date.
  • The endpoint will return entity data matching the specified parameters and date range, organized for efficient data retrieval.

The request parameter list uses URL-encoded format with name-value pairs separated by ampersands. Ensure all parameter names and values are properly formatted. For detailed information about available parameters and data retrieval, contact your ArtsVision account representative or see the ArtsVision website.

Once the selected endpoint template has been configured, click the Test button to the right of the endpoint selection menu to retrieve a sample of the data that will be fetched. Sample data will be displayed in the Endpoint Test Result panel on the right, allowing you to verify that the source is configured correctly before saving.

Manual configuration

ArtsVision data sources can also be manually configured to ingest data from any valid ArtsVision API endpoint, including endpoints not covered by the pre-built templates, chained API calls, or custom request parameters. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, endpoint URL, path to data, and request headers.

ArtsVision API endpoints typically follow the pattern https://av2.artsvision.net/api/getdata/ with query parameters. When the response is in JSON format and includes a Data object with a nested Data array, enter $.Data.Data[*] as the path to data so that Nexla treats each element of the returned array as a record.

Once all of the relevant settings have been configured, click the Create button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the new ArtsVision data source. Nexla will now begin ingesting data from the configured endpoint and will organize any data that it finds into one or more Nexsets.
