Quora Ads

Quora Ads is the advertising platform for Quora, where businesses run campaigns, ad sets, ads, and lead generation forms across Quora's question-and-answer network. The Quora Ads Reporting API exposes read access to accounts, campaigns, ad sets, ads, lead gen forms, and recently collected leads, along with their reporting metrics. This connector authenticates with OAuth2 and pulls this reporting data into Nexla for analysis and downstream integration.

Prerequisites

The Quora Ads Reporting API uses a 3-legged OAuth2 authorization code flow. Access is not self-service: you must first register an OAuth client with Quora, then complete the authorization flow to obtain a refresh token that Nexla uses to mint access tokens.

  1. Contact the Quora Ads API team at ads-api-help@quora.com to register an OAuth client for your Quora Ads account.

  2. After your client is registered, view your Client ID and Client Secret at quora.com/ads/oauth_client_data.

  3. Complete the OAuth2 authorization code flow with the ads_read scope. Direct a browser to the authorize endpoint, https://www.quora.com/_/oauth/authorize, with your client_id, a registered redirect_uri, response_type=code, and scope=ads_read. After you approve, Quora redirects back with an authorization code.

  4. Exchange the authorization code at the token endpoint, https://www.quora.com/_/oauth/token, to receive an access token and a Refresh Token. Store the refresh token — Nexla uses it to obtain fresh access tokens for each request.

All API calls are made against the https://api.quora.com/ads/v0/ base domain, with the access token passed as a Bearer token. For the full authentication reference and available reporting fields, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

Authenticate

Credentials required

FieldRequiredSecretDescription
Client IDYesNoOAuth2 Client ID for the Quora Ads API app. Registration requires contacting ads-api-help@quora.com; the client ID/secret pair is then viewable at quora.com/ads/oauth_client_data.
Client SecretYesYesOAuth2 Client Secret paired with the Client ID, used during the authorization_code token exchange with quora.com.
Refresh TokenYesYesOAuth2 refresh token obtained after completing the authorization_code flow with the ads_read scope, used to mint new access tokens.

Create a credential in Nexla

  1. After selecting the data source type, click the Add Credential tile to open the Add New Credential overlay.

  2. Enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field and a short, meaningful description in the Credential Description field.

  3. Enter your Client ID, Client Secret, and Refresh Token in the corresponding fields. These are the OAuth2 credentials you obtained in Prerequisites.

  4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the overlay. The newly added credential will now appear in a tile on the Authenticate screen during data source creation.

The Client Secret and Refresh Token are sensitive values that grant read access to your Quora Ads reporting data. If either is compromised, register a new OAuth client or re-run the authorization flow to rotate the credentials.

For detailed information about OAuth2 authentication, scopes, and available reporting fields, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

Use as a data source

To create a new data flow, navigate to the Integrate section, and click the New Data Flow button. Select the Quora Ads connector tile, then select the credential that will be used to connect to Quora Ads, and click Next; or, create a new Quora Ads credential for use in this flow.

Endpoint templates

Nexla provides pre-built templates that can be used to rapidly configure data sources to ingest data from common Quora Ads endpoints. Select the endpoint from which this source will fetch data from the Endpoint pulldown menu. Available endpoint templates are listed in the expandable boxes below.

[Rest API] List Accounts

List the Quora Ads accounts the authenticated OAuth client can access (account id and name).

  • This endpoint is paginated. Nexla automatically follows the paging.next URL to fetch subsequent pages of accounts.

Use the account IDs returned by this endpoint to configure the account-scoped reporting and lead endpoints. For details on the response structure and available fields, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Account Reporting Data

Get reporting metrics for an ad account, optionally broken down by campaign, ad set, or ad (via the level query parameter) and over a date range.

  • Provide the Account ID for the account whose reporting data you want to fetch. Obtain account IDs from the List Accounts endpoint.

For the full set of reporting metrics, breakdown levels, and date-range parameters, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Campaign Reporting Data

Get reporting metrics for a campaign, optionally broken down by ad set or ad, or as a daily time series.

  • Provide the Campaign ID for the campaign whose reporting data you want to fetch.

For the full set of reporting metrics, breakdown levels, and time-series options, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Ad Set Reporting Data

Get reporting metrics for an ad set, optionally broken down by ad, or as a daily time series.

  • Provide the Ad Set ID for the ad set whose reporting data you want to fetch.

For the full set of reporting metrics, breakdown levels, and time-series options, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Ad Reporting Data

Get reporting metrics (clicks, spend, impressions, conversions, etc.) for a single ad.

  • Provide the Ad ID for the ad (creative) whose reporting data you want to fetch.

For the full set of reporting metrics available per ad, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] List Lead Gen Forms

List the lead generation forms belonging to an ad account.

  • Provide the Account ID for the account whose lead gen forms you want to list. This endpoint is paginated; Nexla automatically follows the paging.next URL to fetch subsequent pages.

Use the form IDs returned here to filter the List Recent Leads endpoint. For details on the response structure, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] List Recent Leads

List recent leads collected for the ad account's lead gen forms (optionally filtered to one form via the form_id query parameter).

  • Provide the Account ID for the account whose recent leads you want to fetch. This endpoint is paginated; Nexla automatically follows the paging.next URL to fetch subsequent pages.

To limit results to a single form, supply that form's ID via the form_id query parameter. For details on lead fields and filtering, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

[Rest API] Get Current User

Get the Quora user identity (id and public name) associated with the current OAuth access token.

  • This endpoint takes no parameters and is useful for verifying that a credential is valid and confirming which identity it is authenticated as.

For details on the identity fields returned, see the Quora Ads Reporting API documentation.

Once the selected endpoint template has been configured, click the Test button to the right of the endpoint selection menu to retrieve a sample of the data that will be fetched. Sample data will be displayed in the Endpoint Test Result panel on the right, allowing you to verify that the source is configured correctly before saving.

Manual configuration

Quora Ads data sources can also be manually configured to ingest data from any valid Quora Ads Reporting API endpoint, including endpoints not covered by the pre-built templates, chained API calls, or custom request parameters. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration screen, and follow the instructions in Connect to Any API to configure the API method, endpoint URL, date/time and lookup macros, path to data, metadata, and request headers.

Once all of the relevant settings have been configured, click the Create button in the upper right corner of the screen to save and create the new Quora Ads data source. Nexla will now begin ingesting data from the configured endpoint and will organize any data that it finds into one or more Nexsets.
